Patriots Sign Veteran WR Nate Washington

Field Yates of ESPN is reporting that the Patriots are signing veteran WR Nate Washington to a contract on Thursday.

New England brought Washington for a visit a few weeks ago, so he was clearly on their radar.

The Patriots have several receivers on their roster right now including: Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan, Aaron Dobson, Chris Harper, Danny Amendola, Keshawn Martin, Matthew Slater and DeAndre Carter, so it looks like there will be quite the competition for roster spots this summer.

Washington, 32, originally signed on with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent out of Tiffin back in 2005. He wound up playing out his rookie contract before signing a free agent deal with the Titans.

The Texans wound up signing him to a one-year contract last year.

In 2015, Washington appeared in 14 games for the Texans and recorded 47 receptions for 658 yards receiving and four touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 76 receiver out of 121 qualifying players.
