The New England Patriots officially placed LB Tony Steward on waivers Wednesday.
Steward, 23, was taken in the sixth round of last year’s NFL draft by the Bills. He managed to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but he was placed on waivers earlier in the week.
Steward was in the second year of his four-year, $2,403,828 rookie contract at the time of his release.
The Patriots elected to sign him to a contract just a few weeks ago, so his time in New England was obviously short lived.
In 2015, Steward appeared in seven games for the Bills and recorded two tackles. Buffalo later placed Steward on season-ending injured reserve with a back injury.
