Raiders CB Sean Smith Arrested, Charged With Felony Assault

Defense attorney, Daniel Rosenberg, tells Ian Rapoport that his client, Sean Smith. maintains his innocent and will plead not guilty.

According to Rapoport, Smith plans to “fight this all the way.


TMZ Sports is reporting that Raiders CB Sean Smith was arrested Thursday and charged with felony assault.

According to the report, Smith attacked his sister’s boyfriend back on July 4, which included beating and stomping on his head.

If convicted, Smith would face up to 7 years in state prison.

Smith, 30, is a former second-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2009. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $40 million contract that included $20 million guaranteed. He stands to make base salaries of $5 million and $8.25 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2016, Smith appeared in 15 games for the Raiders and recorded 40 tackles, two interceptions, and 11 pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 16 cornerback out of 110 qualifying players.
