Rams Benching QB Austin Davis In Favor Of Shaun Hill

Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the Rams are benching QB Austin Davis and going with veteran backup QB Shaun Hill for Sunday’s game against the Broncos.

Head coach Jeff Fisher recently reiterated his support for Davis being the team’s starting quarterback, but he has apparently changed his mind.

  • Thomas adds that Fisher decided to go with experience this week and informed players at the team meeting Wednesday morning.

The Rams decided to go with Shaun Hill as their starter after Sam Bradford went down with another ACL injury. However, St. Louis moved on from him after just two games.

Hill, 34, signed a one-year, $1.75 million contract that included $500,000 guaranteed with the Rams this past offseason.

In two games this season, Hill has thrown for 81 yards while completing 61.5 percent of his passes to go along with no touchdowns and an interception.

As for Davis, he has thrown for 2,001 yards, 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions while completing 63.4 percent of his passes over the course of nine games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 34 quarterback out of 37 qualifying players this season.
