Ravens Releasing RB Danny Woodhead

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Ravens are releasing veteran RB Danny Woodhead on Tuesday.

The Ravens could clearly use the cap room, which is why they’ve made a number of moves in recent days including releasing Ladarius Webb and declining Austin Howard‘s option.

Woodhead, 33, originally signed on with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Chadron State back in 2008. He spent over two years in New York before signing on with the Patriots in 2010.

Woodhead finished out his three-year, $7.25 million contract with the Chargers, but his 2016 season, unfortunately, came to an end with him being placed on season-ending injured reserve with a torn ACL.

The Ravens signed him to a three-year, $8.8 million contract that included $3.25 million guaranteed last year he was set to make a base salary of $2.55 million for the 2018 season.

In 2017, Woodhead appeared in eight games for the Ravens and rushed for 56 yards on 14 carries (4 YPC) to go along with 33 receptions for 200 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
