Redskins Sign TE Vernon Davis To A One-Year, $2.38M Deal

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that the Redskins and TE Vernon Davis have agreed to terms on a contract.

  • Mike Klis of 9News reports that the Redskins signed Davis to a one-year deal worth $2.38 million and includes $1.1 million guaranteed.
  • Davis can earn another $2.1 million in incentives during the 2016 season, according to Klis.

Washington brought Davis in for a visit and were clearly the favorites to sign him to a contract.

There’s an obvious connection between Davis and the Redskins, as McCloughan was with him in San Francisco several years ago.

Washington has Jordan Reed firmly entrenched as their No. 1 tight end, but the addition of Davis will give them some versatility at the position.

Davis, 32, is a former first-round pick of the 49ers back in 2006. He spent the first nine-plus years of his career with the 49ers before being traded to the Broncos midseason.

In 2015, Davis appeared in 15 games and recorded 38 receptions for 395 yards receiving and no touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 51 tight end out of 67 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Best Available Free Agents list.
