Redskins OLB Trent Murphy Facing Four-Game Suspension For PEDs

Master Tesfatsion of the Washington Post is reporting that Redskins OLB Trent Murphy is facing a four-game suspension for violating the league’s policy against performance-enhancing drugs.

As of now, Murphy is currently appealing his suspension, which would cost him the first four games of the 2017 season.

Murphy, 26, is a former second-round pick of the Redskins back in 2014. He’s entering the final year of his four-year, $4.472 million contract that includes $2.616 million guaranteed and is set to make a base salary of $1.03 million for the 2016 season.

In 2016, Murphy appeared in all 16 games for the Redskins and recorded 47 tackles, eight sacks, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 23 edge defender out of 109 qualifying players.
