Redskins A Potential Landing Spot For WR Kenny Britt?

Ben Standig of Breaking Burgundy reports that Rams free agent WR Kenny BrittĀ could end up being a “viable option” for the Redskins, depending on what happens with free agent WRs DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon this offseason.

League sourcesĀ have told Standig that they believe Garcon is the better bet to return to Washington in 2017 than Jackson. However, there’s reportedly a “growing sense” that both could move on next season.

“Not sure they’ll re-sign Pierre or DeSean,” said a league source close to the situation tells Standig. “They might have to sign somebody else.

Where Britt comes in, according to Standig, is that the fact that Britt could give them a weapon to work with in theĀ Red-Zone.

JP Finlay of CSN Mid-Atlantic also reports that the Redskins have shown interest in Britt and adds that he would be interested in Washington if Kirk Cousins is back as their quarterback.

It’s early in the free agent process but it sounds like this is something to keep an eye on in the coming months.

Britt, 28, is a former first-round pick of the Titans back in 2009. He spent five years in Tennessee before signing on with the Rams in 2014.

The elected to bring Britt back on a two-year, $9.15 million contract that included $4.3 million in March of 2015. He’s now in position to test the open market as an unrestricted free agent.

In 2016, Britt appeared in 15 games for the Rams and caught 68 passes for 1,002 yards receiving and five touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 39 receiver out of 119 qualifying players.
