Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com reports that sources have informed him that the San Francisco 49ers have shown interest in recently released quarterback Seneca Wallace.

  • Maiocco adds that teh 49ers are expected to bring Wallace in for a visit at some point.
  • According to Maiocco, the 49ers backup job is currently “unsettled.”

San Francisco traded for Colt McCoy months ago, but Scott Tolzien and rookie B.J. Daniels continue to see an equal number of snaps during the team’s practices.

Wallace, 33, was released on Tuesday by the New Orleans Saints, so it’s interesting to see him find interest in just a matter of hours.

We’ll have more as the news is available.
