Bears “Engaged In Ongoing Discussions” With LB Brian Urlacher

Lou Canellis reports that the Brian Urlacher and his representatives made the Bears a contract offer yesterday morning and are waiting to hear back from them.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that a source with knowledge of the situation has informed him that the Chicago Bears are currently “engaged in ongoing discussions” with free agent LB Brian Urlacher regarding a contract extension.

Florio believes the Cowboys would be “wise‘ to pursue Urlacher if he were to become available given that they’ll be installing 4-3 defensive scheme this year.

Urlacher, 34, has said that he intends to finish his career with the Bears and has even mentioned that he would be willing to offer them a hometown discount to be back.

All things considered, it’s a safer bet to assume that Urlacher will be back in Chicago next season.

We have Urlacher listed as the No. 78 best available player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
