Report: Bills Signing Veteran QB Jordan Palmer

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Buffalo Bills are signing former Bears QB Jordan Palmer to a contract.

Bills HC Doug Marrone expressed a great deal of frustration regarding the team’s backup quarterback situation following Saturday’s preseason game, so there has been talk that Buffalo could sign a quarterback once cuts were made.

Buffalo surprisingly brought Dennis Dixon in after starter E.J. Manuel departed over Jeff Tuel and Thad Lewis. The Bills wound up releasing Dixon earlier today, but it appears as though Tuel and/or Lewis could be in the coming days.

Palmer, 30, was released by the Bears on Sunday after the team decided to go with Jimmy Clausen as their backup quarterback. Palmer last appeared in an NFL game during the 2010 season while he was playing for the Cincinnati Bengals.

  1. Is this guy really considered a veteran?? The guy has 15 NFL passing attempts under his belt!! Oh my, Buffalo, you couldn’t find a better VETERAN QB out there??

    • He has only played in two seasons over the course of his career, but some believe he is a better QBs coach than an actual backup. It’s surprising that there hasn’t been more reported interest in Kyle Orton, who does have much better NFL experience.
