ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Colts have reached an agreement with free agent RB Ahmad Bradshaw on a one-year deal.
- Pro Football Talk reports that Bradshaw receives a $250,000 signing bonus, along with a $1.1 million base salary.
- He’ll also receive $650,000 in per-game roster bonuses.
Bradshaw joins Vick Ballard, Donald Brown and Delone Carter in the Colts backfield. It seems likely that he’ll be given an opportunity to compete for the team’s starting job, despite the fact that there has been a decent amount of buzz surrounding Ballard this offseason.
We had Bradshaw listed as the No. 4 best available player in our Best Available Free Agents list.
Although a previous report indicated that the Patriots could get involved in talks with Bradshaw, it appears as though the Colts appear to be the favorites to sign him.
This could be an attempt by Bradshaw’s agent to gain some much needed leverage in the talks with Indianapolis.
Bradshaw, 27, visited with the Colts last Thursday and recent reports suggested that the two sides had reached a stalemate in negotiations.
With Bradshaw coming off of multiple foot surgeries and no alternative options available to him, it has become quite clear that Indianapolis holds all of the leverage. The Steelers showed interest a few months ago, but that was before they addressed the running back position during the recent draft.
