Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports reports that the Eagles have made signing free agent S Devin McCourty their “top priority.”

  • Robinson adds that the Patriots would still like to re-sign him.

Numerous reports have said that the Eagles were likely to pursue McCourty this offseason, so this is right in line with what we’ve seen thus far.

There figures to be a great deal of interest in McCourty seeing as a number of teams could use a Pro Bowl-caliber safety, and he’s clearly the best available option.

The Giants, Jaguars, and Raiders have been mentioned as other teams that could be interested in McCourty.

McCourty, 27, played out his five-year, $10 million contract that includes $7.825 million guaranteed and will be an unrestricted free agent as of next week.

This season, McCourty appeared in 16 games for the Patriots and totaled 68 tackles, two interceptions, and one forced fumble. Pro Football Focus has McCourty ranked as the No. 8 safety in the league this season.

We have him currently listed as the No. 3 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
