Report: Jim Kelly Not Confident About Jon Bon Jovi Keeping The Bills In Buffalo

Tim Graham of the Buffalo News reports that Bills Hall of Fame QB Jim Kelly recently met with Jon Bon Jovi to discuss the possibility of joining his ownership group in their attempt to purchase the franchise.

However, Kelly reportedly declined to join the Toronto based group due to concerns that they could eventually move the team out of Buffalo.

“I can confirm that Jim Kelly met with Jon Bon Jovi, but Kelly and (investor) Jeffrey Gundlach will not be pursuing a relationship with the Toronto group,” Graham’s source said. “Kelly and Gundlach do not feel confident that their aspirations for keeping the Bills in Buffalo long-term are aligned with the interests of the Toronto group.

Kelly’s brother and business manager, Dan Kelly, reportedly met with billionaire Donald Trump as well, but they have yet to sit down with Buffalo Sabres owners Terry and Kim Pegula, who are considered to be the favorites to purchase the team as of now.

This isn’t the first time concerns regarding the possibility that Bon Jovi could relocate the franchise have surfaced. In fact, Bon Jovi tried to quell any such concerns by releasing a statement on the matter, but it isn’t going to help his case any now that Kelly may have the same concerns regarding his intentions.

According to Graham’s sources, the Bon Jovi group is “unfocused and disorganized” and “major tension” exists within it.
