Report: Percy Harvin Expected To Hold Out For A New Contract

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that a league source has informed him that Vikings WR Percy Harvin is expected to “stay away” from offseason workouts and training camp in the event that he doesn’t have a long-term in place.

A recent report indicated that the Vikings are prepared to shop Harvin around in the next few weeks, which has fueled plenty of speculation as to where he could be playing next. We covered this earlier in the day.

Harvin, 24, will make $2.9 million for the 2013 season and there was talk of him holding out last season, so it’s really not all that surprising that this topic is coming again.

What is clear is the fact that the Vikings will have to decide whether he’s a part of their long-term plans or not. Clearly, Harvin is an amazing talent, but he has had numerous run-ins while in Minnesota and his trade value is about as high as it’s ever going to be.

This has quickly become one of the top storylines for the offseason.
