Terrance Knighton Says Raiders & Broncos Are Out Of Running

Update:

Free agent DT Terrance Knighton tells Josina Anderson that the Raiders and Broncos are out of the running for his services.

“The Raiders made me an offer but it’s not close to what I was looking for. So as of right now the Raiders and Broncos are out of the race,” Knighton said. “A lot of people had me going to the Raiders because of Jack Del Rio, but I’m now focusing on a few other teams right now.”

Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports reports that free agent DT Terrance Knighton isn’t close to an agreement with any team at this point in time.

Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Raiders and free agent DT Terrance Knighton are close to an agreement. However, Tafur admits that nothing is done right now.

  • Josina Anderson previously reported that the Raiders, Redskins, Colts, and Bears were all showing “serious interest” in Knighton.

Knighton told Anderson  that he is hoping to have the situation over sooner than later.

“I want the process to happen pretty quicklyOnce the market opens I’m going to decide which one I have the strongest interest in, and move strategically with potential visits from there and not waste my time.”

The Raiders have been linked to Knighton for a few months now, even since they hired Jack Del Rio as their new head coach, so this really isn’t much of a surprise to hear that they’re among the potential suitors.

One other takeaway is that three of the four teams mentioned for Knighton run 3-4 base defenses and Knighton has played in a 4-3 dating back to his time in Jacksonville.

Knighton, 28, appeared in all 16 games and recorded 30 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and three pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 12 defensive tackle in the league out of 81 qualifying players.

We have Knighton listed as the No. 18 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
