Report: Raiders HC Dennis Allen On The Hot Seat

Mike Silver of the NFL Network reports that Raiders HC Dennis Allen is “very much on the hot seat.

Citing a source “familiar with the mindset of ownership,” Silver reports that Oakland’s final two games will be “crucial” in determining whether or not Allen will return for another season.

Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie previously mentioned that Allen’s job was likely safe this offseason, but that has apparently changed. Allen does have two years left on his current contract, so that could at least factor into McKenzie’s decision on some level.

Ian Rapoport reports that all of the team’s assistant coaches other than OC Greg Olson have expiring contracts to be addressed this offseason.

With that in mind, there is at least a chance that the Raiders could completely gut their coaching staff and go with a fresh start. Oakland has plenty of cap space to work with and should be drafting in the top-five next May, so they could be a fairly new roster at the start of the 2014 season.

Here’s a random note from Silver’s report; Raiders owner Mark Davis reportedly has made his displeasure with the team’s losing known and sometimes behaving like a “petulant child” on the team plane. Yikes!
