Raiders Sign CB Taiwan Jones To A Three-Year Extension

Jones, 25, will receive a three-year extension that will keep him under team control through the 2017 season.

  • Mike Garafolo reports that Jones receives $4.355 million over three years, which will bring the total value of his contract to $5 million.
  • Pro Football Talk mentions that this contract will make Jones one of the highest-paid special teams players.

Jones made the transition from running back to cornerback last season, so it will be interesting to see if he’s able to eventually secure some playing time at corner after spending much of the season as a special teams contributor.

There was talk that Jones was on the chopping block last year, but he managed to hang around through training camp and ultimately make the final 53-man roster.

Last season, Jones totaled 15 tackles and a forced fumble over the course of 16 games.
