During Sunday’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Mike Shanahan benched Rex Grossman after he threw four interceptions. It seemed like only a matter of time before the Redskins benched Grossman in favor of John Beck even though Rex had managed to lead the team to a 3-1 record.
Now that Beck has been brought in, the speculation as to who will be the teams quarterback moving forward has become a hot topic in D.C.
“I want to play,” John Beck told Kelli Johnson of CSN Washington. “I want to be the quarterback. But I’m not the one that makes that decision, it’s coach, and they’ll make the best decision for the team. . . . What’s gonna happen next, I don’t know. But I’ll just do everything I can to be prepared if my number is called.”
Beck will most likely get a shot at starting next week but it will come with added pressure as the Redskins are only a game out of the Giants for the division lead.
