Saints Also Trying Out Veteran DE Darryl Tapp

Evan Woodbery reports that the Saints are also trying out veteran DE Darryl Tapp during their minicamp this week.

New Orleans has a number of players trying out this week including: WR Robert Meachem, DE/OLB Matt Shaughnessy, OLB Royce LaFrance, LB Chris Weatherd and DT Lawrence Virgil.

The Saints could use some pass-rush help now that Hau’oli Kikaha suffered another torn ACL.

Tapp, 31, is a former second-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2006. After four years with the Seahawks, Tapp signed a three-year contract with the Eagles as a free agent in 2010.

Tapp played a year for the Redskins before signing on with the Lions in March of 2014. Detroit brought him back on a one-year deal last year, but this is the first reported interest in him since the free agent market several months ago.

in 2015, Tapp appeared in all 16 games for the Lions and recorded 26 tackles, two sacks, and two forced fumbles.
