Seahawks DE Michael Bennett Undergoing More Tests On Knee, Possible He May Need Surgery

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll told reporters on Friday that DE Michael Bennett will undergo further examination for his knee injury on Monday but surgery remains an option for him, per Bob Condotta.

According to Carroll, Bennett was dealing with more discomfort in his knee this week, which is why they elected to have him undergo some more tests to determine what’s going, per Condotta.

Seattle officially ruled Bennett out for Week 8’s game against the Saints.

Bennett, 30, signed four-year, $32 million contract that included $16 million guaranteed with the Seahawks a few years ago. He still has another two years remaining on his contract to go along with base salaries of $4 million (2016), and $6 million (2017).

In 2016, Bennett has appeared in six games for the Seahawks and recorded 24 tackles and three sacks. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 9 edge defender out 102 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Bennett’s injury as the news is available.
