Seahawks GM John Schneider Has Backing Of Ownership In Stance With Kam Chancellor

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Seahawks GM John Schneider has the backing of owner Paul Allen in regards to his hard-line stance with holdout safety Kam Chancellor.

According to Rapoport, Allen has “been informed of every single development and is standing behind GM John Schneider’s stance.

Yesterday, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported that there’s been no contact between the Seahawks and Chancellor’s agent since Tuesday, September 8.

Chancellor’s holdout has already cost him $1.87 million through Week One and he stands to lose another game check worth $267,000 for missing Sunday’s game against the Packers.

According to Florio, there’s no end in sight in regards to Chancellor’s holdout and some believe this situation could come down to whether the Seahawks are able to beat the Packers Sunday night.

Rand Getlin mentioned that if Seattle can come out of this game with a win, Chancellor will lose the vast majority of the leverage he currently has.

Chancellor, 27, still has another three years remaining on his five-year, $29.323 million contract that included $17 million guaranteed. He stands to make base salaries of $4.55 million (2015), $5.1 million (2016), and $6.8 million (2017).

In 2014, Chancellor appeared in 14 games and recorded 78 tackles, one interceptions, a forced fumble and six pass defenses for the Seahawks. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 20 safety out of 87 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding the Seahawks and Chancellor as the news is available.
