Steven Jackson: “Retirement Is An Option”

Steven Jackson joined the NFL Network on Friday and mentioned that he still considers “retirement is an option” as he heads into the offseason.

Jackson, 29, reworked his contract during the season, which will allow him to be become an unrestricted free agent in a matter of months. He has a $7 million player option for the 2013 season, but odds are that he’ll decline the option in favor of securing a larger contract.

Last year, Jackson also considered retirement, so there’s still a chance he could call it quits. The Rams seem to like what Daryl Richardson brings to their offense, but they’ve maintained that are interested in reaching a long-term deal with Jackson that would allow him to finish his career in St Louis. We’ll have to see just how serious Jackson is regarding the retirement issue.

We have Jackson listed as the No. 13 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
