Texans Signing Veteran QB T.J. Yates

Ian Rapoport reports that the Texans are also signing veteran QB T.J. Yates to a contract following the season-ending injury to Deshaun Watson.

This means that the Texans now have Yates, Tom Savage and Matt McGloin at the quarterback position.

Yates, 30, is a former fifth-round pick of the Texans back in 2011. He spent three years in Houston before he was traded to the Falcons for Akeem Dent. The Falcons later brought him back on a one-year contract before cutting him loose at the start of the 2015 season.

The Texans signed him to their roster and he finished out the year in Houston. Yates missed all of the 2016 season before he joined the Dolphins for a brief stint.

The Bills signed Yates to a contract this past March only to place him on injured reserve and later release him with a settlement a few weeks into the regular season.

In 2015, Yates appeared in four games and threw for 370 yards while completing 49.1 percent of his passes to go along with three touchdowns and an interception.
