Three Teams Have Reportedly Expressed Interest In Redskins WR DeSean Jackson

Jason Cole of B/R reports that three NFL teams have already expressed interest in Redskins free agent WR DeSean Jackson.

Unfortunately, Cole doesn’t offer any specifics as to who these three teams are.

Cole says that Washington was hoping that first-round pick Josh Doctson was going to be ready to take over for either Jackson or fellow free agent WR Pierre Garcon. However, Doctson is still healing from an Achilles injury that sidelined him for most of his rookie year.

It’s worth mentioning that NFL teams can’t directly contact Jackson right now, as this would be tampering, so it’s safe to assume that they’re contacting people through backchannels.

There has been some talk that Jackson would be open to returning to the Eagles next year.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter previously reported that the Eagles are likely to pursue a reunion with Jackson during the offseason and multiple NFL teams believe he could be back in Philadelphia next year, as they could use a speedy deep threat in their offense.

The Redskins aren’t expected to use their franchise tag on Jackson, considering that they may need it for QB Kirk Cousins, which means there’s a good chance Jackson will test the open market next year.

Jackson, 30, is a former second-round pick of the Eagles back in 2008. He’s currently in the final year of his three-year, $24 million contract that included $16 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $3.75 million.

In 2016, Jackson has appeared in 11 games for the Redskins and caught 39 passes for 644 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 57 receiver out of 117 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2017 Free Agents list.
