Adam Schefter reports that the 49ers believe LB Kwon Alexander has a “good chance” returning from his torn pectoral muscle and playing in next week’s playoff game.
Schefter says Alexander has defied expectations in his recovery much like Texans DE J.J. Watt has. Watt was able to suit up and play for the Texans in their Wildcard win over the Bills.
There is risk for Alexander if he were to suit up next week, but Schefter says he believes it’s worth it.
The 49ers designated Alexander to return from injured reserve last week.
Alexander, 25, is a former fourth-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2015. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2,758,320 contract before agreeing to a four-year contract worth $54 million with the 49ers in 2019.
In 2019, Alexander appeared in eight games for the 49ers and recorded 34 tackles, a half sack, an interception, a forced fumble and four pass defenses.
