Albert Breer of TheMMQB.com reports that 49ers’ brass will have dinner tonight with Ohio State DE Nick Bosa after his Pro Day on Wednesday.
Bosa plans to stand on his results from the combine, so he won’t be working out for teams.
With so much talk about the Cardinals taking Kyler Murray at No. 1 overall, the 49ers could very well be in position to select the best non-quarterback prospect in this year’s draft, which some believe is Bosa.
In fact, Breer mentioned yesterday that if the Cardinals select Murray at No. 1 overall, he expects the 49ers to waste no time grabbing Bosa with the second pick.
Bosa, 21, is a consensus top-5 talent in this year’s draft class and arguably the best of a great group of pass rusher prospects.
Last year, Bosa suffered a core muscle injury that has kept him sidelined. While it’s possible he could have returned to the team at some point, it appears as though Bosa decided it was best to not risk further injury and sat out the remainder of the season.
During his college career at Ohio State, Bosa recorded 77 tackles, 29 tackles for a loss, 17.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, two pass defenses and a defensive touchdown over the course of three seasons and 29 games.
