According to Field Yates, the 49ers have released OT Anthony Davis.
Davis had previously retired from the NFL, but was reportedly seeking to be reinstated.
If reinstated, Davis would now be free to sign with any NFL team to continue his career.
Davis, 29, is a former first-round pick of the 49ers back in 2010. He had five years remaining on his seven-year, $39.67 million contract that included $17 million guaranteed when made the decision to retire in 2016.
The 49ers later placed Davis on the exempt/left squad list shortly after he announced his retirement.
In 2016, Davis was limited to appearing in one game for the 49ers before he retired.
