49ers Sign OT Sam Young, Place OT Shon Coleman On IR

According to Ian Rapoport, the 49ers are signing OT Sam Young to a contract on Monday.

The 49ers have confirmed the signing of Young and announced that they’ve officially placed OT Shon Coleman on injured reserve.

The Saints, Bills and Jets also brought Young in for workouts this offseason.

Young, 31, is a former sixth-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2010. He lasted just one year with Dallas before being claimed off of waivers by the Bills.

Young had a brief stint with the Jaguars before signing on with the Dolphins for the 2015 seasons. He’s been on and off of Miami’s roster since then.

In 2018, Young appeared in 12 games for the Dolphins and made one start.

Coleman, 27, is a former third-round pick of the Browns back in 2016. The Browns traded Coleman to the 49ers for a seventh-round pick last year.

Coleman is currently in the third year of his four-year, $3.27 million contract and set to make a base salary of $755,280 for the 2019 season.

In 2017, Coleman was active for all 16 games for the Browns and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 56 offensive tackle out of 79 qualifying players.
