According to Tom Pelissero, the 49ers are signing former Cardinals LB Joe Walker to a one-year deal.
Walker should boost San Francisco’s depth at linebacker after they didn’t tender restricted free agent LB Elijah Lee.
Walker, 27, is a former seventh-round pick of the Eagles back in 2016. He was in the third year of his four-year, $2.557 million contract and set to make base salaries of $630,000 and $720,000 over the next two years of the agreement when the Eagles waived him coming out of the preseason.
Philadelphia re-signed Walker to their practice squad after he cleared waivers. The Cardinals signed Walker to their active roster in 2018
In 2019, Walker appeared in all 16 games for the Cardinals and recorded 61 total tackles and a one forced fumble. Pro Football Focus rated Walker as the No. 79 linebacker out of 89 qualifying players.
