AFC East Notes: Bills, Jets, Patriots

Bills

  • Ian Rapoport reports that the Bills top evaluators and coaches will head out to Los Angeles on Friday for a private workout with USC QB Sam Darnold.

Jets

Rich Cimini of ESPN writes that Wyoming QB Josh Allen is a bad fit for the Jets’ West Coast offense that’s predicated on accuracy, timing and rhythm, which happen to all be areas where he’ll need to improve on at he next level.

Cimini says that taking Allen would require the Jets to overhaul the offense to fit his strengths.

However, New York has scouted every game and sent a large contingent to his pro day and a private workout, so there’s at least some level of interest in him. According to Cimini, Allen is not a slam-dunk pick of the Jets if he’s still on the board at No. 3 overall.

Patriots

  • Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald reports that Patriots HC Bill Belichick chastised TE Rob Gronkowski in front of the team for being a TB12 client.
  • Guregian adds that this may have been Belichick’s not-so-subtle way of trying to keep everyone from jumping ship on the team’s training staff.
