AFC Notes: Broncos, Chiefs, Patriots, Titans

Broncos

  • Broncos HC Vance Joseph said G Ronald Leary, who was officially placed on injured reserve on Tuesday, will not require back surgery and needs to rest: โ€œRon Leary needs rest and rehab right now. Just smart for both parties involved.โ€ (ProFootballTalk)

Chiefs

  • The Chiefs hosted OT Dillon Gordon and G Blake Muir for visits on Tuesday. (Howard Balzer)
  • Kansas City elected to sign Gordon to their practice squad on Tuesday. (NFLTR)

Patriots

  • Regarding recently acquired WR Kenny Britt, Mike Reiss of ESPN views him as a similar receiver to WR Michael Floyd, who was with the Patriots in 2016.
  • Reiss mentions that Britt adds considerable size to the Patriotsโ€™ receiving core, as heโ€™s taller than Brandin Cooks, Kevin Hogan, and Danny Amendola.
  • Reiss writes that Brittโ€™s addition decreases the likelihood that WR Malcolm Mitchell will return off the teamโ€™s injured reserve.
  • As for WR Phillip Dorsettโ€˜s spot on the active roster, Reiss believes that he could be at risk of being cut.

Titans

  • Paul Kuharsky reports that Titans QB Marcus Mariotaโ€˜s hamstring injury remains a problem and is complicated by lingering issues with his surgically repaired leg/ankle from 2016.
  • According to Kuharsky, itโ€™s possible Mariota may need to undergo a clean-up procedure after the season.
