AFC Notes: Colts, Texans, Titans

Colts

Colts starting RB Marlon Mack continues to impress HC Frank Reich in practice as he was able to break off some big runs once the offensive line finally found their rhythm.

“First of all, Marlon looked great,” Reich said, via Joel A. Erickson of the Indy Star. “There were some big holes there, but he did make a couple of pretty sweet moves. The offensive line got in a bit of a rhythm.”

Texans

  • Per Fox 26’s Mark Berman, Texans WR Keke Coutee has a minor stress fracture in his foot that’s sidelined him from practice in recent days. The injury isn’t considered serious and Coutee just needs rest to heal.
  • Texans LB Jacob Martin says he’s gained 21 pounds since the end of last season in anticipation of a larger role and now weighs in at 247. (Aaron Wilson)

Titans

  • Jim Wyatt of the team website says while the Titans signed OLB Vic Beasley with the intent to make him a starter this year, his absence from camp and lengthy stay on the non-football injury list while he works back into shape likely means the team has to scale those plans back, at least to start the season.
  • Wyatt notes Titans FB Khari Blasingame has seen a decent amount of carries and could serve as the team’s third running back this year, with veteran RB and special teamer Senorise Perry another option.
  • Titans QB Ryan Tannehill says RB Derrick Henry has noticeably improved his receiving ability and could be a bigger part of the passing game this year: “We see Derrick working on it. He made some strides this year. He’s catching the ball more confidently I feel like.” (Turron Davenport)
