AFC Notes: Josh Allen, Odell Beckham, Bills, Dolphins, Jets

Bills

Even though the Bills no longer have an alpha in the receiving room, QB Josh Allen said that the mentality of everybody getting involved has made the offense better as a whole.

โ€œItโ€™s paying dividends of what weโ€™ve worked on throughout the entire offseason and through training camp of the โ€˜everybody eatsโ€™ mentality,โ€ Allen said, via PFT. โ€œAnd, again, it could be your play this play. You never know when itโ€™s gonna happen. And thatโ€™s the beauty of it. When guys get to buy into this and really understand, like, โ€˜I may not get the ball four, five times thrown to me a game, but the one or two times I do, Iโ€™m gonna have opportunities to be in the end zone.โ€™ You know, itโ€™s a fun and wonderful thing when you have a bunch of guys that donโ€™t care about the stats, they donโ€™t care about the touchdowns, and again, I think throughout practice, weโ€™ve just had this mindset of like, โ€˜Hey, letโ€™s just do things the right way and find ways to win football games. Thatโ€™s what weโ€™re doing right now.โ€

Dolphins

Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel said he is “optimistic” about WR Odell Beckham Jr. coming off the Physically Unable to Perform list. Beckham will be eligible to be activated following Week 4.

โ€œIโ€™ve seen some good progress, and Iโ€™m optimistic for when his window opens up and we will see how his body responds,โ€ McDaniel said, via ProFootballTalk. โ€œI do know thereโ€™s been some very intentional good work and that he hasnโ€™t had the setbacks that weโ€™ve made sure to avoid.โ€

  • Dolphins OC Frank Smith was asked about QB Tyler Huntley‘s athleticism: “You have to assess the defense and how to create conflict. The starting point is always the defense. Who do they have and how can we attack it.” (Joe Schad)
  • Miami QB coach Darrell Bevell feels there were times QB Skylar Thompson needed to “let it rip” against the Seahawks. (Schad)

Jets

  • Jets’ veteran LB C.J. Mosley (toe) said he wonโ€™t practice today and wants to be sure he’s not at risk of suffering any setback before playing again, per Rich Cimini.
  • Saleh added Mosley will be a game-time decision, via Connor Hughes.
  • Jets HC Robert Saleh said OT Morgan Moses (knee) will miss “a couple games” but isn’t a candidate for injured reserve, per Zack Rosenblatt.
