Browns
- If the Browns end up trading out of the No. 4 pick, Tom Pelissero mentions Ohio State CB Denzel Ward as a player to keep an eye on for Cleveland.
- According toย Robert Klemko of TheMMQB.com,ย Browns coach Hue Jackson is โout of the loopโ regarding the team’s plans for the No. 1 overall pick.ย Klemko adds that Jackson will clearly be coaching for his job this year.
- However, Mike Silver reports that this isn’t actually the case and Jackson has been kept in the loop this year after not finding out who they were taking in 2017 until the day of the draft.
- Klemko says that only Browns GM Johnย Dorsey knows who they’ll pick at No. 1 overall and a decision has already been made.
- When asked whether they’ve settled on the No. 1 pick, Dorsey tells Josina Anderson: “We’ve had really good discussions and that starts with the personnel staff, the coaching staff, the head coach and ownership. I think we are in alignment. Everybody understands what’s going on here.”
Chargers
Eric D. Williams of ESPN points out that the Chargers could select a quarterback in the 2018 NFL Draft considering GM Tom Telesco mentioned the team has scouted several quarterbacks.
“We scout them all, so we don’t just spend all of our time on first-round quarterbacks,” Telesco said. “The same amount of time that goes into those first-round guys also goes into those guys that will go in the third, four, fifth or sixth rounds.”
Telesco added that they feel there is “decent depth” in this year’s quarterback class and has prospects ranked against others players at different positions.
“We have them graded, we have them lined up and we have them ranked, not only at their position, but across the board compared to other positions. So there’s some decent depth there.”
Dolphins
- Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that the Dolphins are open to a lot of possibilities right now in round one including trading up and down, depending on what happens in the first six picks of the draft.
- Miami is well aware of the fact that they will likely have to trade up to get one of the top quarterback prospects.
- As of now, Pelissero says that the Dolphins have gotten calls about moving down from No. 11 overall.
