AFC South Notes: Jaguars, Texans, Titans

Jaguars

  • Dan Graziano reports that the Jaguars “poked around” on available quarterbacks before the trade deadline, but obviously didn’t come close to a deal.
  • According to Albert Breer, the conditional third-round pick the Rams are sending to the Jaguars for DE Dante Fowler Jr will either be the team’s own third rounder or the highest third-round compensatory pick they get from losing CB Trumaine Johnson and WR Sammy Watkins in free agency.

Texans

New Texans WR Demaryius Thomas says he’s very excited about the new opportunity in front of him and looking forward to playing against his former team this weekend.

“I look forward to it,” Thomas said of his return to Denver, via Mark Berman of FOX 26. “It was an honor. I take my hat off to that organization. They drafted me coming out my rookie year, all the fans stuck with me so it was a wonderful time while I was there. It’s on to the next chapter now.”

“It’ll be a little difficult, of course, playing in Denver for eight and a half, nine years and I get traded and the first team I play is Denver. It’ll be a little different. I look forward to it, but I can’t be too emotional. I’ve got to go and be a part of the Houston team and get the W.

Titans

Titans QB Marcus Mariota said Wednesday that he has feeling back in his fingers and is no longer wearing a glove on his throwing hand.

“Yes, I’ve been able to practice with [no glove],” Mariota said, via Terry McCormick of TitanInsider.com. “It feels good. It feels better.”
