Bears “More Likely” To Start QB Chase Daniel Over Mitch Trubisky Thursday

Ian Rapoport reports that the Bears are “more likely” to start QB Chase Daniel over Mitch Trubisky, given the second-year quarterback is still dealing with an AC joint sprain in his shoulder.

Rapoport adds that Trubisky would “probably play” if Week 12’s game was on a Sunday, but Daniels is now “slated to go” for their Thanksgiving game.

Adam Schefter adds that Trubisky “woke up sore” on Wednesday with “less movement” in his shoulder than expected.

The Bears officially listed Trubsiky as doubtful for Thursday’s game, so they are clearly preparing to be without him.

Daniel, 32, originally signed on with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Missouri back in 2010. He spent three years in New Orleans before signing on with the Chiefs in 2013.

After another three years in Kansas City, Daniels signed a three-year, $21 million contract that included $12 million guaranteed with the Eagles in 2016. However, the Eagles released Daniel last year and he later signed a one-year deal with the Saints.

He signed a two-year deal worth up to $10 million with the Bears back in March.

In 2018, Daniel has appeared in three games for Chicago but has not recorded a single pass.
