Bears Re-Sign DB Jonathon Mincy To PS, Release DB John Franklin

The Chicago Bears announced that they’ve signed DB Jonathon Mincy to their practice squad and released DB John Franklin III from the unit.

The Bears’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. OL Dejon Allen
  2. DL Abdullah Anderson
  3. QB Tyler Bray
  4. WR Tanner Gentry
  5. DB Michael Joseph
  6. RB Taquan Mizzell
  7. RB Ryan Nall
  8. OL James Stone
  9. LB Josh Woods
  10. DB Jonathon Mincy

Mincy, 26, wound up signing on with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Auburn back in 2015. He was, unfortunately, cut loose coming out of the preseason and signed on with the Montreal Alouettes in time for the 2016 CFL season.

The Bears signed Mincy to a futures contract this past January but released him at the start of the regular season. Since then, he’s been on and off of the team’s practice squad.

During his two years with Montreal, Mincy has recorded 108 tackles, three interceptions and two forced fumbles over the course of 32 games.

At Auburn, Mincy totaled 211 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions, a forced fumble, a recovery and 27 pass defenses over the course of four seasons.
