Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribuneย reports that theย Bears have placed P Tress Way on waivers, which clears the way forย sixth-round pick Pย Pat O’Donnell to be the team’s punter this year.
- Chicago also releasedย LS Chad Rempel.
O’Donnell was theย odds-on favorite to win the job, so this news shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.
Way, 22, signed with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma back in 2013. He later signed a future/reserve contract with Chicago in early January, but has yet to appear in an NFL game.
Rempel, 31, signed with the Bears back in April. Before that, heย played for theย Toronto Argonauts during the 2012 season and even spent time Bears HC Marc Trestman in 2009.
