Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict’s Career Could Be Jeopardy Following 7th Concussion

According to Katherine Terrell and Adam Schefter, Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict‘s career could be in jeopardy after he suffered a seventh known concussion this past weekend.

Burfict returned to the Bengals last week after missing two games with a prior concussion, so this obviously a really concerning situation for him.

Burfict, 28, wound up signing on with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent out of Arizona State back in 2012. He was in the final year of his four-year, $20 million contract when the Bengals signed him to a three-year $38.68M extension last year.

Burfict stands to make base salaries of $3.81 million (2018), $5 million (2019), and $6.18 million (2020) over the remainder of the contract.

In 2018, Burfict has appeared in seven games for the Bengals and recorded 33 tackles, no sacks and three pass defenses.

We’ll have more regarding Burfict as the news is available.
