Jenna Laine of ESPN is reporting that the Bengals are shopping LT Cordy Glenn around the league in trade talks. However, if no deal surfaces, the expectation is that the Bengals will release Glenn.
Reports from last year mentioned that Glenn was available for trade leading up to the deadline, but he wound up remaining in Cincinnati.
Glenn was suspended by the Bengals after being fined $200,000 as the two sides have had friction over his return from a concussion suffered during the preseason. Glenn and a member of the coaching staff reportedly had a heated argument, according to reports, which resulted in Glenn eventually telling HC Zac Taylor to just cut him.
Glenn was upset because he believes that the team rushed him back from his concussion.
Glenn, 30, is a former second-round pick of the Bills back in 2012. Buffalo traded Glenn to the Bengals in 2018 as part of a pick swap.
Glenn is currently in the final year of his five-year, $65 million contract that included $36 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $7.5 million for the 2020 season.
According to OverTheCap.com, releasing or trading would free up $9.5 million of available cap space while creating no dead money.
In 2019, Glenn appeared in six games for the Bengals, starting five games at left tackle.
Weโll have more regarding Glenn as the news is available.
