Bengals Signing LB Josh Bynes To One-Year Deal

Ian Rapoport reports that the Bengals are signing free-agent LB Josh Bynes to a one-year contract.

Bynes, 30, wound up signing on with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Auburn back in 2011. He spent just over three years in Baltimore before he was waived and later signed to the Lions’ practice squad at the start of the 2014 season.

Detroit signed Bynes to a two-year, $1.81 million contract in 2015. The Cardinals signed him to a one-year contract in 2017 and brought him back for the 2018 season. He caught on with the Ravens in 2019.

Bynes was a midseason addition that helped stabilize Baltimore’s defense during their run as the No. 1 seed in the AFC last year.

In 2019, Bynes appeared in 12 games for the Ravens and recorded 46 tackles, one sack, two interceptions and four pass defenses. Pro Football Focus rated Bynes as the No. 6 linebacker out of 89 qualifying players.
