According to Adam Schefter, the Bills are expected to start rookie QB Nathan Peterman for Sunday’s game against the Colts with QB Tyrod Taylor questionable with a knee injury.
On Friday, Bills HC Seanย McDermott told reporters that Taylor was going to be a game-time decision, so it was clear that the Bills could turn to Peterman this week. McDermott did, however, say that it’s a possibility that Taylor could be active but serve as the team’s backup quarterback.
Taylor is dealing with a patella tendon contusion. Although, the good news is that Taylor’s ligaments are fine.
Taylor, 28, is a former sixth-round pick of the Ravens back in 2011. After four years in Baltimore, Taylor signed on with the Bills for the 2015 season.
Taylor is currently in the first year of his two-year, $30.5 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $7.5 million and $10 million.
In 2017, Taylor has appeared in 11 games and thrown for 2,025 yards while completing 64 percent of his passes to go along with 12 touchdowns and three interceptions. He has also rushed for 302 yards and three touchdowns.ย Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 11 quarterback out of 38 qualifying players.
Peterman, 23, was taken in the fifth-round of this year’s draft by the Bills. He signed a four-year, $2.63 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the agreement.
In 2017, Peterman has appeared in three games for the Bills and thrown for 195 yards while completing 48.7 percent of his passes to go along with one touchdown and five interceptions.
