Bills Place G Chris Williams On Season-Ending I.R., Promote S Kenny Ladler

The Buffalo Bills officially placed veteran G Chris Williams on season-ending injured reserve Saturday with a back injury, according to the NFL transaction release.

  • The Bills also signed S Kenny Ladler to their active roster ahead of Sunday’s game against the Patriots.

Williams, 29, signed a four-year, $13.15 million contract that included $5.5 million guaranteed with the Bills back in March. He has a base salary of $1.875 million coming his way next year, so it will be interesting to see if there’s talk of him being a release candidate in 2015.

The Bills are to go with rookie Cyril Richardson in place of Williams for the foreseeable future.

Signed to a four-year deal this offseason, Williams will end up making just three ineffective starts for the Bills. He’s due a $1.875 million base salary in 2015 and could be a candidate for a post June 1 cut. Rookie Cyril Richardson will continue to replace Williams as Buffalo’s starting left guard.
