Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson Requests Trade

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson has requested that the team trade him before the upcoming deadline.

  • According to Schefter, Peterson feels as if the situation in Arizona has deteriorated and he has reaffirmed to others that he “desperately” wants out.
  • Schefter adds that the Cardinals continue to insist they’re not trading him while Peterson continues to request a trade.

Rumors surfaced that Peterson was someone to keep an eye as a potential trade candidate.

However, Cardinals owner Michael Bidwell told Ian Rapoport of NFL.com last that trading Peterson is “not happening.”

For what it’s worth, reports from this past weekend said that the Saints and Eagles were both in the market for cornerback help.

Peterson, 28, is a former first-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2011. He’s currently in the fifth year of his seven-year, $83.02 million that included $48 million guaranteed and set to make base salaries of $11 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2018, Peterson has appeared in six games for the Cardinals and recorded 29 tackles, one sack, an interception, a fumble recovery and two pass defenses.
