According to Ian Rapoport, the Chiefs and Rams are deep in talks on a trade that would send CB Trent McDuffie to Los Angeles for a package that includes the Rams’ first-round pick at No. 29 overall.

Rapoport adds a new deal for McDuffie would be part of the trade.
Jordan Schultz reports the full compensation going back to Kansas City is the Rams’ first, a 2026 5th and 6th and a 2027 third-round pick.
Rams GM Les Snead alluded yesterday to wanting to swing a big trade for an “All Pro” talent in the secondary and being willing to move a first-round pick to do it. McDuffie certainly fits the bill there.
The Chiefs and McDuffie had been working on a contract extension as he was entering the final year of his contract on the fifth-year option.
Kansas City has shown a willingness to let corners walk past a certain value point and has also been willing to trade star players. This is the latest example, and while they loved McDuffie as a former first-round pick, this is outstanding value.
McDuffie, 25, was a three-year starter at Washington and earned first-team All Pac-12 honors in 2021 and was named All Pac-12 second-team in 2020. The Chiefs traded up and used the No. 21 overall pick on him in the 2022 draft.
He signed a four-year, $13,992,482 contract that includes a $7,356,350 signing bonus and includes a fifth-year option that was picked up by Kansas City back in April.
In 2025, McDuffie appeared in and started 13 games for the Chiefs, recording 63 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, seven pass defenses, and one interception.
We’ll have more on the McDuffie trade as the news becomes available.
