Chiefs Sign Veteran CB David Amerson To One-Year Deal Worth Up To $6M

The Kansas City Chiefs announced Friday that they’ve signed CB David Amerson to a one-year contract.

  • According to Terez A. Paylor, Amerson receives a one-year contract from the Chiefs worth $2.25 million to go along with some incentives.
  • Ian Rapoport reports that Amerson’s contract can be worth up to $6 million.

After recently being released by the Raiders, Amerson visited with the Bears and Texans and reportedly had interest from other teams including the 49ers. However, this is the first we’ve heard about the Chiefs being an option for Amerson.

Kansas City is looking to make some changes on defense and it appears as though they identified Amerson as a good addition to their secondary.

Amerson, 26, is a former second-round pick of the Redskins back in 2013. Washington waived him during the 2015 season and he was later claimed off of waivers by the Redskins.

Amerson signed four-year, $38 million extension with close to $18 million guaranteed with the Raiders back in 2016. He was set to make base salaries of $5.5 million and $7 million over the next two years of the agreement when the Raiders released him in a move that freed up $6 million of available cap space.

In 2017, Amerson appeared in six games for the Raiders and recorded 18 tackles, no interceptions, a fumble recovery and four pass defenses.
