Dolphins Give Jarvis Landry Permission To Seek Trade

Ian Rapoport reports that the Dolphinsย have granted permission for franchise WR Jarvis Landry and his representation to seek out a trade with another team.

  • Rapoport adds that any deal will require full cooperations from all parties included, but they’ve at least opened the door for him to line up a trade with a new team.
  • According to Josina Anderson, there have been at least two teams that have been in contract with the Dolphins since they gave Landry permission to seek out a trade.
  • According to Joe Schad, Landry plans to sign his franchise tender as soon as early next week.
  • Barry Jackson mentions that the Bears have emerged as a trade “possibility” for Landry.

The Ravens, Bears, 49ers, Panthers, Bills and Saints have all been tossed out as potential landing spots for Landry if the Dolphins are able to find a trade partner this offseason.

Earlier this week,ย Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that the Dolphins will meet with theย agent for Landry at the Scouting Combine to discuss his future.

A number of reports have said that the Dolphins could still try to trade Landry in the coming weeks, despite using their franchise tag on him, so this shouldn’t come as a big surprise.

It will be interesting to see what kind of compensation is being discussed for Landry, given that Miami has committed to paying himย roughly $16 million fully guaranteed for the 2018 season.

Landry will need to hammer out a long-term extension with a new team in order for a deal to be completed.

Landry, 25, is a former second-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2014. He’s entering the final year of his four-year, $3.5 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $893,852 for the 2017 season.

In 2017, Landry appeared in 16ย  games and caught 112 passes for 987 yards receiving and nine touchdowns. He has also contributed 81 kick return yards. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 19 receiver out of 119 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Landry as the news is available.
