Eagles Re-Signing CB Ronald Darby To One-Year, $8.5M Deal

Adam Schefter reports that the Eagles are re-signing CB Ronald Darby to a one-year contract on Friday.

  • According to Ian Rapoport, Darby receives a one-year contract worth $8.8 million for the 2019 season.

The Chiefs brought Darby in for a visit a few days ago, but there wasn’t a lot of buzz about him since then, which implied that a deal with Kansas City may not be close.

In the end, the Eagles were able to convince Darby, who was, arguably, the best available cornerback this year to return for another season and reestablish his value after suffering a season-ending knee injury.

Darby, 25, is a former second-round pick of the Bills back in 2015. The Eagles trade WR Jordan Matthews and a 2018 third-round pick to the Bills in return for Darby in 2017.

Darby played out the final year of his four-year, $4.569 million contract and was testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his NFL career.

In 2018, Darby appeared in nine games for the Eagles and recorded 43 tackles, one interception and 12 pass defenses.

We had him featured in our Top 100 Available Free Agents list.
