Giants Signing WR Golden Tate To Four-Year, $37.5M Deal

Adam Schefter reports that the Giants are signing WR Golden Tate to a contract on Thursday. Schefter reports that Tate receives a four-year, $37.5 million contract that includes $23 million fully guaranteed.

Tate’s agency has already announced the move:

The Patriots and Steelers reportedly had some interest in Tate, but it appears as though the Giants were offering the best deal.

Tate, 30, is a former second-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2010. He played out his rookie contract in Seattle before signing a five-year, $31 million contract that included $13.25 million with the Lions.

Tate was traded to the Eagles at the deadline last year and made a base salary of $7 million for the 2018 season. He was testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

In 2018, Tate appeared in 15 games for the Lions and Eagles and caught 74 passes for 795 yards receiving and four touchdowns.

We had him featured in our Top 100 Available Free Agents list.

  1. Hey Nate! Why do you keep taking my posts down?

Your boy Bill Barnwell needs to find another career path instead of evaluating NFL trades and signings. He grades the GMEN signing of Golden Tate a D+. then tells this whole misled story about 9 years ago of Tate breaking into a donut shop.

First of all. Golden Tate did NOT break into a donut shop. Tate lived in a dwelling above the donut shop. A door which is commonly used by building residents and employees of the shop. The door also led to the shop and was left ajar, where at 3AM before going to Tate’s dwelling, Tate and a friend entered the shop and ate some freshly made maple bars. NOTE! The owner of the shop did not press any charges. That’s a very far cry from Beckham and some ‘Ho in a hotel with a blunt and a mirror with ye-yo on it.

Then Barnwell proceeds to mislead another part of his story about Tate and Percy Harvin getting into a scuffle before the Super Bowl in 2013. First of all. There was a disagreement between three parties in that incident. It was Harvin instigating an argument with Tate and Doug Baldwin. And if memory serves correct, the Vikings traded Harvin because he was a head case trouble maker amongst other things. That’s still a far cry from the very unsportsmanlike conduct Beckham displayed towards Josh Norman in a televised Redskins/GMEN game in 2015. I believe Beckham received a game suspension and fine. OH! And I believe the ever innocent Harvin was gone from the Seahawks the next season 2014. And all the ANALysts were chalking Harvin’s behavior up to migrants or depression, something along those lines.

Then Barnwell. Grades the Jason Verrett signing by the 49ers a B-. Are you kidding me? Verrett has missed about 50 games in 4-5 years and gets a 1year/$3.5M deal.

Then Barnwell grades the Adrian Peterson 2 year deal a C. Really! With Derrius Guice healthy.

Then Barnwell grades the Panthers resigning of Daryl Williams an A. WOW! A guy that missed a whole season with an ACL And Gettleman did NOT even try to sign Williams and Gettleman is the one who drafted him in Carolina.

The Media is just annoyed because the GMEN are making Beckham a very distant memory.Tate was the best receiver in free agency and the GMEN snagged Tate from the grasp of the Patriots and Steelers. And the money the GMEN paid is a bargain. Because in 2020 The GMEN books are cleared, no more Manning salary, no more Beckham dead cap hit and Jenkins will be the next casualty. And after 2019 Solder’s contract becomes movable. The 2019 Draft and current vets (Jenkins, Bethea, Martin) will have the defense on rookie deals and up to 2 year deals.KNMRB
